Wi-Fi
Internet access and wireless network
Wi-Fi stands for “Wireless Fidelity.” It is a generic term for three different wireless networking norms. It is the WiFi Alliance which issues the WiFi label and certifies products from manufacturers as being compatible.
With Wi-Fi it is possible to create high speed local area wireless networks. In practise Wi-Fi enables laptops, office machines, personal digital assistants (PDAs), communicating objects and even peripherals to be connected in a high speed connection over a radius of several tens of meters indoors. In an open environment, the range can reach several hundreds of metres even under optimal conditions several tens of kilometres.
DFi offers WiFi technology for different uses :
- In industry, to allow mobile workers to access the enterprise network
- To link different buildings economically, without using phone companies
- In public spaces such as shopping centres, hotels and restaurants to allow visitors to have access to the Internet (Hotspots)
- In private homes and apartments as a complement to ADSL in order to avoid laying cabling.
Methodology and security
For each project, it is necessary to evaluate the site which will be equipped to guarantee the zones which will be covered. DFi takes particular care that security is tight, in order to guarantee the isolation of networks.
